J.A. Plant Pool Ghana Ltd. has successfully graduated its first cohort of trainees from the J.A. Plant Pool Training School, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to building technical capacity and supporting Ghana’s infrastructure development.
The graduation ceremony, held at the Training School premises, celebrated 31 graduands who completed intensive training programmes in Excavator Operation (3 months), Backhoe Operation (3 months), Forklift Operation (3 weeks), and Bus Driving (6 weeks).
Delivering the welcome address, the Principal of the Training School, Belinda Amarteifio, described the initiative as a strategic intervention aimed at bridging the skills gap in Ghana’s heavy equipment and transport sectors. She emphasised that the training school is not just an institution, but “a pipeline for empowerment, employment, and excellence,” equipping trainees with both technical expertise and industry-ready skills.

Speaking on behalf of the graduands, Eugene Anim, the Students’ Representative, expressed deep appreciation to management and instructors for their dedication and mentorship. He highlighted that beyond technical training, graduates were instilled with strong values of safety, discipline, and professionalism.
“We have not only learned how to operate machines, but how to do so responsibly and safely. We leave here as confident and competent operators ready to contribute to the industry,” he noted.
Member of parliament(MP) for Awayaso Central, Hon. Abdul Rauf Tongym Tubazu reiterated his commitment to skills development, revealing plans to train at least 100 additional individuals by the end of the year. He also acknowledged the critical shortage of technical skills in the district and urged graduates to make effective use of the knowledge acquired.
However, the MP noted with concern the low participation of women in the programme, calling for greater inclusivity in future cohorts.
Also addressing the gathering, the National Coordinator for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, commended the initiative and the efforts of Members of Parliament in supporting skills development. He expressed disappointment over the limited female participation and encouraged more women to take advantage of such opportunities.
He further advised graduands to maintain discipline and adhere strictly to safety protocols in the operation of heavy machinery.
The J.A. Plant Pool Training School forms part of the company’s broader strategy to support national development through human capital investment, complementing its role in equipment supply, logistics, and infrastructure support.
As Ghana continues to invest in construction, transport, and industrial growth, initiatives such as this are expected to play a crucial role in developing a skilled workforce to sustain the country’s progress.
