J.A. Plant Pool Ghana Ltd. proudly participated in the 18th edition of the West Africa Mining and Power Exhibition and Conference (WAMPEX 2025), held at the Accra International Conference Centre. The event brought together regional and international leaders to spotlight Ghana’s pivotal role in championing sustainable mining and energy investment across the continent.
This year’s exhibition, themed “The Mining and Power Hub: Driving Sustainable Investment Opportunities in West Africa,” underscored the urgent need for resilience, environmental stewardship, and inclusive development within the extractive industries.
Ghana Leads the Way in Sustainable Mining
The conference opened with an inspiring keynote address by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to sustainable resource development.
“Ghana is not just a mining destination. We are proof that responsible investment and transformative development can go hand in hand,” he stated.
He highlighted Ghana’s success in attracting $1.2 billion in foreign direct investment into the mining sector in 2024 alone, driven by stable governance, a skilled workforce, and investor-friendly policies.
Shifting from CSR to Shared Prosperity

In a bold policy move, the government is now shifting from traditional Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives toward a shared value approach. Over 100 mining communities have already benefited from the Minerals Development Fund, showcasing the nation’s commitment to inclusive growth.
Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah emphasised, “WAMPEX 2025 should be remembered as the moment we turned promise into practice—where sustainable deals were struck and transformative partnerships formed.”
Industry Leaders Call for Unified Action
Chairman of the Conference and President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Michael Edem Akafia Esq, described the event as “timely and critical,” urging stakeholders to work collectively to ensure that mining activities deliver measurable benefits for local populations.
Adding his voice, the CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Mr. Ahmed Dasana Nantogmah, stressed the importance of strengthening the mining and power sectors amid global economic uncertainties.
“Our industries must become resilient engines of sustainable economic transformation,” he said.
