J. A. Plant pool Ghana limited, a leading supplier of heavy duty and earth moving equipment and buses has donated a trailer head to the National Blood Service, Ghana. (NBSG).

The 371 horse power trailer head is a fully sponsored donation by J.A. Plant Pool Ghana, following an appeal by Management of NBSG in 2014.

The trailer head is to enable the Service, move a mobile blood clinic van for community blood donation purposes.The mobile van was donated by the Welsh government in 2014, to assist NBSG facilitate its community voluntary blood collections.Presenting the keys to the Director of the National Blood Service, Ghana Dr. Justina Kordai Ansah at the NBSG Headquarters in Accra,  Mr. Akindele said the donation was to further consolidation  the already existed good relationship between J.A. Plant Pool and the National Blood Service, Ghana.

He also noted that the sponsorship of the trailer head formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to help the NBSG deliver on their mandate, which is to collect more blood for safe transfusion.He pledged his company’s continuous support by maintaining the trailer head as long as it’s in use by the Service.

Dr Justina Kordai Ansah, Director of the National Blood Service Ghana, on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Members of the Blood Committee and Management and Staff of the NBSG, expressed gratitude to J.A Plant Pool Ghana Limited for the kind gesture, saying, “This is commendable and we appreciate it a lot.”

She emphasized that the decision to support voluntary blood donation activities in Ghana is highly commendable and appreciated, adding that, such initiative have clearly demonstrated that J.A. Plant pool Ghana Limited is a socially responsible company.We trust also that this collaboration will continue as we make every effort to achieve a hundred percent (100%) Voluntary non-remunerated Blood Donation in Ghana.

Dr. Ansah was hopeful the Service would double its mobile collection in the communities as soon as the mobile van begins operation.

“Blood donation is a community and civic responsibility, therefore, this whole idea is to make sure people donate blood voluntarily and comfortably and we will encourage other institutions to emulate this kind gesture”
